Een snee / A cut

A cut
Yesterday, Floor slipped in the bath and cut herself in her chin. It bled nicely. Lars helped me by holding some ice against her chin, while I searched the house for some first aid bits and pieces. I did not find more than a few bandages. There was not much useful in the car first aid kit either. In the mean time, I was brave enough to look at the cut (I tend to faint seeing or talking blood) and saw it was quite deep. Time to go to the hospital, so I asked Cor to come home. He was still at the bus stop waiting to go to a dinner meeting in town.
Luckily a friend of us lives closeby, and she is a nurse. She accepted to have a look at the wound. This saved us driving all the way to hospital and waiting for hours. Her firstaid cupboard was day and night difference compared to mine. She worked very professionally while I looked the other way. I was quite light headed, especially when her daughter exclamed: "He, it looks like a smiley!" When Floor was all up and jumping again, I sat on the ground, breathing deep in and out. Luckily the nurse also had a cure for this: a quick working homeopathic one against fainting!
Floor is now walking around proudly with a white chin and is irritated by the plaster. Let's see who will change the special plaster in three days.

Paula:
